Samuel Dalembert Heading to the Big Apple

The New York Knicks traded away 7-1 Russian rookie center Timofey Mozgov in the Carmelo Anthony deal and were left with the injury-prone Ronny Turiaf to fill the spot, so the team is going to be looking for a big man this offseason. Sources to the New York Post say team president Donnie Walsh has "targeted" Sacramento Kings center Samuel Dalembert, who becomes a free agent this summer.
The Post reports that Walsh's desire to add "a big, bruising starting defensive center" to the roster may be "strong enough ... to sacrifice what could be maximum cap room in 2012, essentially sacrificing a shot at point guard Chris Paul."

A few other big guys will be on the market but are expected to stay with their current teams, such as Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies and Tyson Chandler of the Dallas Mavericks.
A source tells the Post that "Dalembert likely would choose the Knicks if their offer is comparable with any others."

Dalembert averaged 8.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots per game last season.
