Denver Nuggets Assistant coach Adrian Dantley says he was fired because he wouldn’t switch bench seats

Denver Nuggets' assistant coach Adrian Dantley was unable to have his contract renewed by the team for next season.. Dantley, a long time Nuggets' assistant, once took over for George Karl as head coach of the Nuggets when Karl had to take time off for throat cancer treatment at the end of the 2009-10 season. So why did the Denver Nuggets "fire" the former interim head coach from the team? Dantley revealed in a New York Post article that his firing was over a squabble with other assistant coaches over a chair. Confirming to a Denver blog in an interview that this chair incident was the cause of his let go by the team. Dantley refused to rotate seats on the bench when other assistants, who sit in the second row, wanted to rotate to the front seats. Dantley, sitting in one of the front seats, refused to switch with any of the other Nuggets' assistant coaches. Telling the Denver blog in the interview: "I didn’t rotate,’’ said Dantley "I didn't rotate,'' said Dantley, an NBA star forward from 1976-2001 who was named in 2008 to the Hall of Fame." I wasn't going to rotate. If they (other assistants) want the publicity to sit up front, I don't need the publicity… I got no problem not being seen on TV and sitting at the back of the bench."
