Warriors now Keeping Monta Ellis?

Golden State Warriors GM, Larry Riley, said on Wednesday that they are not shopping Monta Ellis. He then used an example of the Dallas Mavericks winning the NBA Championship with a small back court to suggest the Warriors don’t need to get bigger. So after all those rumors are the Warriors really going to keep Monta Ellis?
Personally I don’t think so. Usually where there is smoke there is fire. There were so many rumors popping up that I find it very hard to believe that the Warriors were not shopping Monta Ellis at all. Maybe the offers weren’t true and the deals that were on the table weren’t good enough to pull the trigger on. I highly doubt all the rumors had no truth to them. It has to be either the Warriors are just trying to make it seem like they are keeping Ellis to get other teams to up their deals or the offers weren’t good enough and the organization is now trying to save face with Ellis.
I still think he will be gone before next season. If for some reason he is not then I would be wary of how Ellis will take this. He showed a lot of maturity and growth last season but most players take offense to being offered in a trade, especially with so many different teams. I hope Ellis can look past this and play ball next year if he is still in the blue and gold.
It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense financially to keep him, especially if there is a hard cap next year. However I do agree with the statement that the small back court is not what is keeping the Warriors out of the playoffs. That is the fact the Warriors are missing a super star, a real center and they don’t play defense. Keep Monta and fix those other problems the Warriors will be sitting pretty.
