Rumors: Spurs Willing To Trade Tony Parker To Get Into The Draft Lottery

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker may regret his statement regarding the team’s championship chances after hearing this news, but then again maybe not.
The Spurs are reportedly having discussions with lottery teams to acquire a high draft pick in exchange for the All-Star point guard.

Two teams specifically named are the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings who hold the 5th and 7th picks respectively. Both teams could be considering drafting a point guard like Kemba Walker out of UConn so a deal for a proven point guard could entice one of these teams enough to swing a deal.
After the Spurs were eliminated in the first round by the younger Memphis Grizzlies, Parker wrote off the team’s championship chances by saying, “we can no longer say that we’re playing for a championship.” (Read more)
This may be what Parker wanted when he made that surprising statement. Why else would you write off your own team?
