LeBron, Kobe crack Forbes 15 Most Powerful

Part of playing in the NBA means exposure. Not to mention, being a superstar player who the league pushes to advertise it’s brand means a whole lot more exposure, and money as well.
So it’s no surprise that the two most marquee players the NBA has to offer, LeBron James (#10) and Kobe Bryant (#14), both made Forbes’ Top 100 World’s Most Powerful Celebrities list.  The #6 ranked Tiger Woods was the only other athlete in the top 20 of the list.
The categories they ranked the celebrities by was their pay, TV, Radio, press, web presence and social media ranking.

Here’s a more in-depth explanation via Forbes:
“To compile our earnings numbers, we talk to industry insiders including agents, lawyers, producers and other experts to come up with an estimate for what each celebrity earned between May 1, 2010, and May 1, 2011. Earnings consist of pretax gross income. Management, agent and attorney fees are not deducted.
Online exposure is measured using Google ( GOOG - news -people ). Press mentions come from Factiva, and we use Lexis/Nexis to find out how many times each star was mentioned on television or on the radio. We comb through dozens of magazines from the past 12 months to count how many times each star appeared on covers.
Twitter followers and Facebook fans are measured using Twitter and Facebook searches.
All of the data is processed through an algorithm that creates our power ranking.”
