When DeMarcus Cousins came out of high school he had the reputation of being an immature punk with a terrible attitude. However, once the big fella committed to coach Cal, UK fans argued that Cousins was simply misjudged and his poor reputation was unfair.
It turns out DeMarcus Cousins is exactly who we thought he was. In his first NBA season, Cousins led all rookies with 14 technical fouls, which is the fifth most of any player in the league. Cousins 14 T’s resulted in three ejections. Cousins is just one of two players in the entire NBA to be ejected three times this season.
It gets better. In February Cousins was suspended for one game and banned from the team flight after initiating a fist fight with teammate Donte Greene, because he didn’t get the ball in the last seconds of a 99-97 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Cousins ended his rookie season in regular fashion last night as the Kings lost to the Lakers in overtime. He was ejected early in the game after receiving his second technical of the night, for telling the referee to “shut the f*** up”.
