There's still an outside chance that the Houston Rockets will make it into the playoffs. The team is in 11th place in the Western Conference but only three games behind the final playoff spot. Whatever happens this year, it is extremely unclear what will happen next season. Head coach Rick Adelman's contract is up at season's end and Adelman, who lives in Portland, has been saying that he isn't sure if he'll retire or if he'll opt to return.
The decision may not be his to make. The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets owner Leslie Alexander isn't chomping at the bit to get Adelman back. "At the end of the season, I'll sit down with [general manager] Daryl [Morey] and we'll talk about it," Alexander said, the Chronicle reports. "Nothing has been done yet, or thought about yet in that regard."
