Mavericks' Cuban interested in Ricky Rubio

The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Spanish guard Ricky Rubio with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft. Of course, he still hasn't played a minute for the club. If Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has his way, Rubio never will.
Cuban says that the Mavs tried to trade up in the 2009 draft to select Rubio, who is still playing for FC Barcelona. "But we weren't close," Cuban said, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "We would have loved to draft him." The Mavs picked 24th that year and used it to select 7-1 center B.J. Mullens, who is spending his days in the D-League now with the Tulsa 66ers.
Cuban would like a chance to obtain Rubio again. "I think [Minnesota] has a star in the making in Ricky Rubio," Cuban said, the paper notes. "We're very high on him. If they want to give him up, we're very interested. We would do that in a heartbeat."
