Rose Denies Saying NBA Has Issue With Performance Enhancing Drugs
Derrick Rose denied through a team spokesperson that he made claims the NBA has an issue with performance enhancing drugs.
The story emerged after Bulls players were available at Sunday morning's shootaround. ESPNThe Magazine took a survey of PED use in various sports for its May 16 issue.
In it, Rose is quoted as allegedly saying this when asked to rank the problem on a scale of 1-10: "Seven. It's huge and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person."
Though the issue has been out for over a week, it is just entering mainstream media. The story likely will have a short shelf life after Rose denied the comment.
Video: Funny stuff on TV Doris Burke forgets she's on live TV
ESPN television commentator Doris Burke flubs her lines on camera before Game 3 of the Western Conference finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks in the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately for her she somehow did not realize that this was being aired live, therefore her couple attempts to restart just added to the clumsiness. Her mouthing the F-bomb was the high point for me. via YouTube Link to original article: Doris Burke Forgot She Was on Live TV

Video: Joakim Noah Caught On Camera Using Profanity, Slur Directed Towards Fan
MIAMI — Joakim Noah, the Chicago Bulls’ center, apologized Monday for directing an antigay slur at a fan in a loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. After speaking with N.B.A. representatives, he said, he expected to be fined for the outburst.
Noah made the comment when he returned to the bench after drawing his second foul in the first quarter. He said the fan taunted him, but did not specify what the fan said. The broadcast by TNT captured Noah’s response on camera.
“I don’t want to be a distraction for the team, and I apologize for what I said,” Noah said Monday. “What I said wasn’t right. I don’t want to disrespect anybody. That’s not what I’m about. I just got caught up in something a fan said and I went back at him, and I’m going to face the consequences as a man.”
It was the N.B.A.’s second high-profile incident of a player using the derogatory slur in two months. The N.B.A. fined Kobe Bryant $100,000 in April for using the same slur toward the referee Bennie Adams just days before the start of the playoffs.
“We need to get to a point where you don’t use an antigay slur to respond to events,” Joe Solmonese, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement. “It’s just plain unacceptable. At a time when the N.B.A. and a growing number of pro athletes are publicly standing up for equality, it’s too bad Mr. Noah worked against their efforts last night. That said, we’re pleased he quickly realized the error of his ways and apologized.”
The N.B.A. recently partnered with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network for an antibullying public service advertisement that features Grant Hill and Jared Dudley of the Phoenix Suns. In the advertisement, Hill and Dudley caution people to think before they speak. “Using ‘gay’ to mean dumb or stupid, not cool,” Hill said in the advertisement.
Coincidentally, the video was filmed the same day of Bryant’s slur, which was also caught by TNT cameras. Bryant eventually filmed his own public-service announcement with his Lakers teammates.
Noah said that it was an isolated incident and that he did not want to be a distraction as the Bulls face mounting odds against Miami, which took a two-games-to-one lead in their series Sunday.
“Sometimes fans say things that are a little bit overboard, but still, it’s on us not to react,” Noah said. “If you react, they win, and I did. It was a bad decision on my part, and I’m going to face some pretty severe consequences.”

Fathead Offers Up Taj Gibson Dunk Over Dwyane Wade SMH at Dan Gilbert
The Chicago Bulls Taj Gibson slammed one that was heard around the world…The throwdown was on Dwyane Wade in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and now will forever be immortalized via Fathead…Here’s a description: “This stunning REAL hi-def image of Taj Gibson’s dunk will make you FEEL like you’re under the basket at the United Center. At four feet wide by six feet high you may need more than two people to put this up!” Kinda crazy how fast they acted on this one (Dan Gilbert)… Wade didn’t only get posterized, he got Fatheaded..What’s next, the Udonis Haslem Dunk Mural?
Are The Pacers Shopping Danny Granger?
Let the trade rumors begin.
Now that we know the NBA’s draft order for June, teams have supposedly begun talking about swapping players for picks. The biggest rumor going right now, according to Kurt Helin at ProBasketballTalk is that the Minnesota Timberwolves could be willing to part with the second overall pick.
At the moment, the T-Wolves are reportedly asking for a king’s ransom. That’s not surprising this far away from draft day. But even with the high asking price, FoxSports.com’s Sam Amico suggested via Twitter that the Indiana Pacers could be interested.
Pacers are ones making seriously play for No. 2. Granger is being mentioned. So are Rubio and Beasley. That could be the makings of a blockbuster deal. It could also be one of those grand trade proposals that float away with the breeze. But if Indiana’s willing to put together such a nice package, it won’t motivate Minnesota to come down off their asking price.
Should the Pacers trade Danny Granger?
Shaq Has Sleep Apnea Disorder
Turns out Shaquille O’ Neal is one of the many people in the United States who suffers from sleep apnea, the disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep.
Apparently it was his girlfriend, Nikki “Hoopz” Alexander, who first noticed that the Big Aristotle was having what she suspected to be sleep apnea. Turns out she was right, and it’s a good thing she got Shaq to go get professionally tested for the common disorder—left untreated, it can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.Scary.
Leave it to Shaq to turn this negative into a positive, by filming an informative video on sleep apnea with Harvard Medical School’s Division of Sleep Medicine. Because if anyone can make wearing that ridiculous headgear cool, it’s Shaquille O’ Neal.
Yep, Shaq takes a rather boring subject like sleep apnea and somehow makes it funny and interesting at the same time. Sure his basketball skills have eroded to the point where an orange traffic pylon would produce better on the court than O”Neal, but there’s no denying that Shaq has the uncanny ability to turn the mundane into the “fundane.”

Chandler, Perkins don't like each other
Anyone that watches the NBA knows that Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins is one of the meanest, if not the menaest players in the league. So it should come as no surprise that he came out after game 1of the Western Conference finals and made it no secret that he doesn't like Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler.
"Me and Tyson never got along. I'm serious," said Perkins, whom the Thunder acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Boston Celtics. "He don't like me, I don't like him and that's pretty much how it's been. Everybody always looks at me as kind of like a dirty player if you're on the opposite team, but he's just as dirty as anybody else."
The two got tangled up 70 seconds into game1 and both were assessed a technical foul. The thing is Chandler doesn't harbor the same feelings toward Perkins.
"I have nothing against him," Chandler said of Perkins. "He won a championship with the Boston Celtics, and that's where I'm trying to take my team. I mean, I've got respect for him, what he was able to accomplish. But all the chippy stuff, the after-the-ball stuff, that's all nonsense and I'm not going to get involved with it."
"Honestly, my motive is not to get into it with Kendrick Perkins," Chandler said. "My motive is to make my team better when I'm on the floor and give my team an opportunity to win. My team is not going to be better with me off the floor, so there's no reason for me to get into it with him. The only benefit that's going to have is me off the floor and giving them a better chance to win, so I'm not getting into it with him."
Perkins needs to watch himself since he already is the owner of four technical fouls. Three moreand he's gone for a game and the Thunder need his defense and rebounding. The officials will be watching the paint a little closer with this coming out. Just chill and stop trying to out-macho your opponent.
On the other hand it is good to see someone just flat out hate their opponent. There's not a lot of that these days in te NBA. It's kind of refreshing.
It's safe to say that Chandler won't be getting a Christmas card from Perkins anytime soon.
Shaq Mom said Shaq might be coming back
“He went there to help them win a championship, and they didn’t do that this year,’’ Lucille said. “It bothered him so much that he could not play. He felt like he let the Boston team down and the community down, so I could believe he’s going back to Boston. He’s not in a place to be traded or anything like that.’’
Lucille added O’Neal hasn’t indicated to her what he plans to do.
“I don’t know because Shaquille has got such passion for the game,’’ Lucille said. “(Retirement) we’ve always told him that’s up to him. Whatever decision he makes, we’re still going to be behind him 100 percent.’’
There you go... Shaq's mom... who hasn't spoken to her son about this... says she could believe he's going back.
Bam. What else do you need?
Yes, Doc and Danny have been saying they think Shaq is done. But did they talk to mom about it?
No, I didn't think so.
In all seriousness... there's no way in hell Shaq makes it through a whole season. Even if he doesn't officially retire, the C's could buy him out and then give him a ring in March. If the big fella's got 3 months of ball in his legs, then we might as well make it the last 3 months of the season.
Tony Parker Video: “This Was Our Last Chance”
Tony Parker spoke to reporters in Paris yesterday about a variety of subjects, including his assessment of the future prospects of the Spurs.
Of those NBA title hopes, Parker said:
“It was sort of our last chance this season. .. We are aging. We must be realistic.
“We can’t count on trades to happen. We’re going to have to rely on the draft but Pop (Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich) has made many good choices.“
Parker also gave fresh perspective on the four-year contract extension he signed with the club before the season, and if Joakim Noah will play for France - with Parker - in this summer’s European Championship tournament.
